India’s Independence Day Function
CMCAA’s recent performance at India’s Independent Day Function held on 17 August 2015 was greatly applauded by audience. Our performances were fully enjoyed and a lot of positive feedback was received from the audiences.

Old Is Gold With A Modern Twist
CMCAA function “Old Is Gold With Modern Twist” was aimed at fulfilling following elements of the CMCAA Vision:
The function was graced by Chief Guest Hon. Yvette Berry MLA Minister of Multicultural Affairs and His Excellency Mr Navdeep Suri High Commissioner of India. They both addressed the audience. The VIP Guests also presented CMCAA Trophies and Certificates of Recognitions to children and young artists who had supported CMCAA function “Hollywood Bollywood Musical Extravaganza” as part of National Multicultural Festival (NMF) 2015 on Sunday 15 February 2015. The artists who received trophies were: Guari Arora, Nitya Arora, Amisha Sehgal, Jaiti Khosla, Monisha Dhawan and Jenny Lu. A special Trophy and certificate of Recognition was also awarded to Ms Richa Goswami who is not a CMCAA Executive Committee member but had gone to great lengths to help CMCAA with preparation activities for the function.
Mr Ashok Jain representative of Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation (EVF) made a presentation on Ekal Vidyalaya facts and figures to the audience.
The function was supported by a number of community groups and individuals in organizing this evening including. CMCAA is greatly thankful to these individuals: Mr Deepak Raj Gupta (President of Australia India Business Council); Mr Prakash Mehta (President of Gujarati Association); Mrs Jesse Randhawa President of Sikh Association; Mr Amardeep Singh (Vice President of Sikh Association), Mrs Nishi Puri (President of India Australia Association); Mr Anil Gopinathan (President of Malayali Association); Mr Joe Bailey (President of Anglo Indian Association); Radio Manpasand (Mr Manish Raj); Miss Richa Sharma (Community Member) and Mr Vijay Koul who’s photography skills are of professional level and who kindly helped with taking photos of each and every aspect of the function.
The function was sponsored by: Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) ACT; Patel Groceries Queanbeyan; Desi Bazaar Gunghalin; Bharat International Belconnen; Punjabi Junction Belconnen; Little India Groceries and Convenience Store Gungahlin. CMCAA is thankful to its sponsors.
CMCAA Committee Members, who had worked tirelessly day and night in bringing this evening together were appreciated by all.
Overall it was an excellent function and an evening full of entertainment, which achieved its main objective of collecting targeted funds for donation to Ekal Vidyalaya.

- Promoting multiculturalism: The function was particularly focused on Indian subcontinent.
- Promoting multicultural music dance & drama through our local artists & children: There were wonderful performances by local artists & children from ACT & Queanbeyan NSW.
- Donating for good cause. The CMCAA Executive Committee decided that all funds generated from ticket sales and any donations received will be donated to Ekal Vidyayala, an institution administering education to tribal and rural education in India.

A Winter Evening of Multicultural Entertainment 2014
The “Winter Evening of Multicultural Entertainment 2014” hosted by The Canberra Multicultural Artists Association (CMCAA) Inc. on Saturday 5th July 2014 was a great success. The function was sponsored by The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) ACT; Patel Grocery Store Queanbeyan; Desi Bazaar Gungahlin and ASSURE VISA Immigration Services. The evening saw a number of Community Associations performing in the function, such as ACT Filipino Australia Social & Cultural Association; Anglo Indian Association, Lee’s Taekwondo, the Rajdhani Marathi Mandal Canberra; Gujarati Association; and the Canberra Sikh Association. A number of individual artists including children also show cased their talent throughout the evening.
The function was presided over by Ms Jancye Winter (Chief Guest) on behalf of Mr Nic Manikis (Director of Multicultural Affairs ACT). Ms Jancye addressed the audience and commended CMCAA’s efforts in promoting multiculturalism within ACT inline with its Vision. She also handed out awards to a number of individual artists who had performed with CMCAA in the National Multicultural Festival 2014, and had also performed in other CMCAA functions. Three special awards were also presented to CMCAA or non CMCAA members who have extensively devoted their time and effort in supporting CMCAA activities and functions. The award Recipients were Daras Dhingra, Mili Arora, Riya Burmi, Kiara Jana, Sonia Vaikyl, Avneesha Hunjon, Sonia Singh, Angela Singh, Monisha Dhawan, Abhishek Sehgal, Peta Lioulios, Simran Singh, Jasleen Jokhan and The Canberra Bhangra Jammers. The function that was attended by more then 200 audience, was a fully a family function, conducted in a warm family oriented atmosphere. The audience enjoyed excellent food and melodious performances throughout the evening. A number of dazzling & colourful cultural dances from various communities portrayed their culture aspects which were greatly applauded by the audience.

National Multicultural Festival 2014

On Sunday 9th February 2014 CMCAA presented Hollywood Bollywood Musical Extravaganza on stage 4 on Akuna Street. Once again the CMCAA artists were able to attract large number of audience performing colorful and energetic Bollywood dances and melodious Hollywood and Bollywood songs..
India In The City (IITC) 2014 – Saturday 8 February 2014
The venue London Circuit, was jammed packed with over 4000 audience, when CMCAA artists were performing. The CMCAA performance were full of energy, colors and passion. The performances which ranged from exotic Bollywood dances, Hollywood and Bollywood songs entertained the people for full one hour. The performances happened during peak performance periods and in front of distinguished guests. The CMCAA members also extended support many months before jointly working together with Canberra India Council (CIC) in preparing for and presenting the function

National Multicultural Festival 2013
The Canberra Multicultural Artists Association (CMCAA) Inc presented “Musical Extravaganza” at the National Multicultural Festival 2012 as part of the “India In the City 2013”. The CMCAA artists (Eesha Hunjon, Sonia Vaikyl, Soumiya Joshi, Monisha Dhawan, Ravi Vaikyl and Terry Hunjon) presented Hollywood and Bollywood performances including songs and dances. CMCAA participates in the National Multicultural Festival each year. CMCAA performances are always greatly applauded by audience because the performances energetic, trendy and spectacular.
Hollywood Bollywood Fusion CMCAA Award Night 2012
On Saturday 28th July 2012 CMCAA hosted the Hollywood Bollywood Fusion night CMCAA Awards function. The function was aimed at recognising the talent of the young artists who consistently performs in CMCAA functions and also supported CMCAA by participating with CMCAA in “India In the City 2012” as part of the “National Multicultural Festival 2012”. The evening saw a number of multicultural performances such as songs, dances, jokes, poetry etc performed by CMCAA young artists which were greatly applauded by the audience. While it was a very cold winter evening CMCAA took every care to ensure that the venue is cosy, welcoming and friendly, where they can enjoy the evening in a family oriented atmosphere. The performances were great and food was delicious. The audience greatly enjoyed the melodious evening. CMCAA recognised its young artists with Trophies, Certficates and Gift Cards.

Papua New Guineas, Chileans, Fijians, Indian). The function was attended by approx 400 people. Delicious food was available for
